Seeing Society Differently

Sociology at Lincoln equips you to analyse how societies work and why they change. You’ll explore identity, inequality, culture, and power, examining the forces that shape everyday life and the experiences of different communities.

Our research-active teaching team will introduce you to contemporary debates across areas such as gender, work, youth culture, crime, and social policy. 3rd in the UK for the ratio of four-star (world-leading) outputs in the Social Work and Social Policy Unit of Assessment in REF 2021

I fell in love with the city of Lincoln when I attended an open day. After visiting several different universities across the UK, I thought Lincoln's facilities were excellent, the course content was right for me, the city was not too small nor too big, and the staff and students were very welcoming.

Develop Your Skills

Many of our sociology students have the option to undertake work placements, providing experience of a professional policy environment and a chance to observe how policy is set by central government and executed by local authorities. Full-time undergraduate students may also have the option of a year-long professional practice placement after the second year, providing real-world professional experience.

Study Overseas

We're proud of our wide-ranging international connections and the unique opportunities these offer to our students. The University’s partner institutions across the world allow students to study abroad, giving them the chance to experience their subject from a different perspective and explore different societies and cultures.
